In 1956, the last and most significant restyling of the Alfa Romeo 1900 CSS Touring was presented, with its design completely revised to resemble that of the Giulietta Sprint, which was enjoying great success. The new 1900 CSS differed from the previous series and the 6C 2500 SS Villa d'Este, looking so much like its smaller sister that it earned the nickname "Giuliettona."

The mechanical specifications were identical to those of the SS, but the top speed increased to 190 km/h thanks to the more aerodynamic design. Under the hood, the third-series 1900 CSS was powered by a 1,975 cc inline-four engine with double barrel carburettors, delivering 115 horsepower. The CSS was built on the shorter 1900C wheelbase, making it lighter and more agile, and it was bodied with the Superleggera technique. The body was further refined with Perspex rear windows, reducing weight while maintaining structural integrity.

Inside, there were several updates, including a new dashboard and a different instrument panel with two main gauges and four secondary ones, all circular but of different diameters, grouped under a single matte “eyebrow.”
